On Ash Wednesday we contemplate our mortality

Sorry there was no edition last week. I got COVID-19 and had a fever for like a whole day lol. I also had to isolate over Mardi Gras (which was also my birthday). Not ideal!

Contracting a notifiable disease and having a bad fever the evening of Ash Wednesday is very liturgically appropriate! But don’t worry — I’ve had three doses of the vaccine and I am safe managing everything at home. I’ve lost my voice and I’ve had to take a week off work because I’m finding it difficult to focus on anything except YouTube videos and Twitter, but I’m otherwise doing ok.

I will take this week off Modern Relics as well, and will return to this newsletter on the 16th or 17th of March. Hopefully the Lent/Mardi Gras content I had half-prepared before I got sick isn’t too stale by then.
